so, my laptop charger broke and for about 2 weeks my laptop was incapacitated. so, this post is going to be rather large and random.
first off, last weekend in miami was a blast, props to Bronques for taking good care of me, free sushi and all. and thanks to the girl that poured vodka on my knee when i scraped it up.
them them them them them them jeans
them jeans is playing saturday/thursday in orlando thursday night and i'm fucking estatic. he's probably my favorite dj at the moment, because he remixes hip hop [while you hipster mother fuckers are remixing we are your friends], and his mixtapes have a nice variety, which i like. when i listen to his shit (which is good for driving to and from miami), i feel like we have the same taste in music.
has anyone heard the new Uffie 12"? it's fucking awful, and thats coming from some one who likes uffie. i hope the upcoming full length album isn't like this. after hearing "the party" on the new Jus†ice album, i was looking forward to her album. but sadly, i like her better as a whiny drunken spoiled brat that drops her own name every 10 seconds.
i don't even want to take the time or effort to host the shit, so if you want to give it a listen, go here: MISSINGTOOF.
finally, here's some random shit i've been listening to lately, some new, some maybe not so new:
Tracklist: 1. Jets To Paris Intro 2. Mr. Oizo- Patrick 122 3. Daft Punk- Robot Rock 4. N.E.R.D.- Hey Mister [DFA Remix] 5. Michael Jackson- Don't Stop Till You Get Enough 6. DJ Mehdi- I Am Somebody [Paris Version] 7. Ladytron- Seventeen [Soulwax Remix] 8. Khia- My Neck My Back [Kardinal Beats Remix] 9. Datarock- I Used To Dance With My Daddy [Metal On Metal Remix] 10. Klanguage- Priceless Things 11. Klaxons- Gravity's Rainbow [Guns'n'Bombs Remix] 12. Cajuan- Raven [Cajuan's Moog Remix] 13. Goose- Bring It On [MSTRKRFT JFK Remix] 14. Simian Mobile Disco- Hustler 15. Peaches- Downtown [Simian Mobile Disco Remix] 16. Zoot Woman- Automatic [Chillout Session Remix] 17. Poni Hoax- Budapest 18. MSTRKRFT- Easy Love
Micky loves this shit, and i have to admit as embarassing as it is, this shit gets my shoulders shakin.
this song is pretty stupid, but i do love lipgloss.
as anyone who knows me can tell you, i absolutely adore Death From Above 1979. they broke up, and i'm still not over it. but, seperately, they've both done some great solo shit. i know everyone knows MSTRKRFT, but lately Jesse Keeler's been doing some MSTRKRFT remixes on his own. SebastiEn Grainger has been laying a little lower, but making some awesome shit as well. observe:
damn that's some hot graphics, who did that? oh yeah, me.
so, the podcast is up and running. i think its runnign atleast. my "bon voyage" mix is the first entry, and next week profecyr will contribute. we'll be switching on and off every week with stupid little themes. check it out.
yeah i made a mixtape this morning. it's a little rough and some loops are sloppy but. i'm not redoing it cause it's not that bad.
anyways, i'll be starting a podcast with profecyr, called jets to paris. this mix will probably be the first podcast since it's made and all. so feel free to procrastinate! or, download it now and dance your pants off.
Guns 'n Bombs are coming to Miami to play Revolver on June 29th, and i'm really fuckin psyked. michelle (holler) and i plan on marinating them in vodka. check and see if these gentlemen are coming to your town, buy them each a drink, and offer them a lucky horseshoe.
so i've recently been lusting over 1/2Alive. they're a canadian group you've probably heard/ heard of, consisting of the increasingly popular my!gay!husband, Tony X, and the talented Tyler Fedchuk. Check out Tyler's myspace for his podcasts and some free mixes.
a fucking ghost. seriously. i accepted the challenge of finding a picture of him online vomitting in a back alley or giving a "lucky horseshoe" in a skeezy bar lavatory. but you can't find pictures of the guy anywhere (google, wikipedia, allmusic.com, technocrati, etc). which is crazy cause he's fucking amazing and i know you've heard his name. i did, however, stumble across an entry made by the elusive felix cartal on urbandictionary.com:
[on an entirely different subject, i'm clean now]
his remix of mstrkrft's "the looks" is cooler than the original, his remix of ashlee simpson's "L O V E" has me... rocking out to ashlee simpson in my car and defending it to my friends. and his original work is the dirty disco punk we all break a sweat to (in one way or another). so bookmark his myspace and wait for fireworks. ps: lucky horseshoes to anyone who gets a shot of him publicly drunk, harassing mcdonald's employees, vomitting in a back alley, or something equally scandalous and embarassing.
because there will never be enough pretty boy DJs making electro, in my opinion
gregory, PROFECYR, is a myspace friend of mine who caught my attention with a remix of DJ Mehdi's "signature" about a week ago, and i begged him to send it my way because i kind of love it. check out his original shit on his myspace, and check him out if you're in the boston area.
i may have mentioned before that i have a HUGE hard on for erol alkan. so here's some of his shit for your enjoyment. and yes, i'm perfectly aware that this isn't all super hip came out last night tracks. but it's still cooler than that fucking faint song from 2003 you mix into your dj set every week, bitch. snap!
